The new space we have created for NextEd in the Goldcoast is a further extension of our on-going design relationship with the ever-expanding NextEd group across Australia.
The Goldcoast campus is their first, purpose built, multi-level & multi-disciplinary campus. Spread across 4 levels it incorporates 8 private tertiary education businesses and a global international student recruitment agency. English language, Vocational, and Higher Education sectors.
Upon arrival to the space the buzz and activity and the core point of difference for the campus, the Student Training Kitchen is immediately on-show. This not only creates visual interest, but it also show-cases the professional level of cookery training available to students. The waiting area looks immediately onto this and the curved seating frames the kitchen space beyond. This gives them real insight into the hands-on approach to learning NextED provides.
The overall look & feel of the campus once again links to the overall look and feel of all their campuses to give a sense of connection across all of their facilities previously created by CIA Designs. The light timber flooring & sky blue finishes give a freshness, relaxed & natural feel to all spaces. The open & exposed ceilings make the spaces feel less like an institution and more like a café or cool lobby space. In continuation of a tradition across the last 5 campuses we have created, the splashback in the kitchen incorporates some key landmarks from the Goldcoast. The vibe of the splashback follows the vibe of past applications.
From a functional perspective the layouts of classrooms are in-line with the past standards and on the upper floors in a purpose-built aged care lab. This is yet another draw card for students as it gives real-life experience of the equipment that would be used in an actual aged care environment. The finishes are all reflective of an aged care environment to ensure the environment is a true reflection of what real-life will be.
The upper levels to the floor are dedicated to breakout spaces, study booths, collaboration zones that all support a multi-dimensional approach to learning in a purpose-built and considered space. The students and staff all enjoy the cross-campus mix of experiences provided & the fresh and vibrant feel of the spaces.
