Citic House – Spec Suite

Project Type:

New Office Fitout

Location:

Melbourne

Size:

The project we recently completed for CITIC house was one which straddled quite different briefs yet needed to show connectivity through all spaces & levels they were associated with. The overall project included a custom-designed space for their long-term tenant BMT, a Spec. suite to cater for the new boutique office needs and an End of Trip facility to increase the service on offer.

The second space created as part of the project was a spec. suite. Completing the remaining space on level 5. This space was a great opportunity to showcase a new way of working & to present an offering in the building which departed from a more standard workspace. To do this the CIA team flipped the concept of arrival/meeting and breakout on its head. The first step was to widen the entry to give it more presence off the lift lobby. To catch people’s attention the entry features curved, standout waiting booths that seamlessly link to the breakout and alternative working environments. Instead of standard signage at the front we introduced round illuminated planting discs that can be inter-dispersed with a future tenant’s signage in a more sculptural manner. To create a grander, more collaborative & alternative working environment beyond the booths is a touch-down bench that incorporates power. This further connects to the breakout, kitchen & adjacent meeting environments. The result is a space that promotes staff to make the space work for them, with multi-layered seating options, styles and further varied levels of privacy from a group meeting space, smaller 4 person booths, 2-person quiet rooms, a larger boardroom & quick-work-touch down points. Beyond the large flexible meet/greet/chat/break space is a more formal workspace along the windows. All workspaces are height-adjustable facilitating further a workspace that promotes flexibility & ergonomics. Adjacent to this is a stand-up collaboration space & some quiet, airport lounges tucked away in the corner for those that need a mind break from the open working environment. The look and feel is one which is soft, plush & elegant which touches of nature wherever possible. The space looks great yet feels relaxed and flexible.
